Moira Third

Moira studied Fine Art at Gray's School of Art in Aberdeen, gaining both Honours and Masters degrees.  She now lives up a glen in Scotland's Cairngorms National Park, an area of outstanding beauty, wild and remote, where the changing seasons are much more apparent. She spends lots of time outdoors amongst a landscape of drama and detail that inspires both daydreams and flights of moonlight fantasy.

"Having lost my hearing following a viral infection, I've had to adjust to many challenges and changes. The white hare featured in much of my embroidered work is for me an analogy of the ability to change, adapt, transform, representing the resilience and the instinct to survive.  A pared back romantic sense of North is to be found in my work as is the hint of the fairytale and my intention is always to evoke quiet contemplation."
