Hi, my name is Bo. I am originally from the Netherlands but left there a long time ago to pursue many adventures. Eventually I ended up in the Scottish Highlands (just outside of Ullapool), where, as well as painting and being a mother, I work as a psychotherapist and counsellor.

What I love about painting is the absolute freedom. Immersing myself in a world of colour, imagination, myth, story and symbolism is an endlessly joyful and enlivening thing to do.

Here, anything is possible. You can ride on the backs of birds or run with wolves. But yet I don’t think of these imaginings as fantasy. Even though I don’t paint what I see, the paintings are a very direct result of being deeply rooted in the everyday world around us. Roots, leaves, stars and feathers. The tactile, tangible miracles and mysteries that surround us. A feeling of sinking ever more deeply into the textures, sounds and sights of the landscape around me, and the feeling that just on the edge of my vision, just beyond the thin veil, there really is a world where these possibilities are real…
