Silting by Han Fraise

An illustrative exhibition by local artist Han Fraise, featuring scenes from The Peffery Canal, Dingwall entitled 'Silting'.

The Peffery Canal

To some it’s an eye sore, even a rubbish dump. A place abandoned by the past. A Victorian relic of a bygone industrial era that never quite took off.

But the canal is still alive. Reclaimed by wildlife, it’s sanctuary to nature. To people, it goes from the pedestrian to the existential. It’s a dog walk, a shortcut, a Saturday morning escape. It’s a way out and a way in. A place of possibility.

In the year that Dingwall celebrates being 800, Han Fraise will present a journey along 'The Peffery Canal' past and present, as she follows its route from the centre of her hometown to the estuary.
