The Owl is symbolic of wisdom and guidance in Celtic folklore. This proud King of Owls greets the dawn; the time of transition between night and day to welcome the beginning of Spring.
This piece was created using the process of cyanotype to form prints with plant material. Natural dyes derived from indigo and alder create the variety of blue tones and golden yellows. The Owl was hand-carved from a lino block and printed onto silk. The shimmering moon is 23 carat gold leaf. The piece is hand and machine embroidered to create a sense of texture and depth.
