An original pencil drawing of two birds, a robin and a wren who wear crowns decorative sashes, standing on the cill of an arched stone window, with a stained glass effect formed from Celtic artwork, by Marjory Tait of Highland Celtic Art.
The image is based on an arched window with the fox, the cat and the kite all worked into the stained glass, representing the perilous path the robin took to meet up with his bride the wren. His determination and faith is illustrated in them being ‘imprisoned' within the window unable to catch their prey.
Based on the old Scots story of the marriage of robin redbreast and the wren, which sometimes appears as poem, possibly by Burns.
Image size 29cm W x 38cm H. White-washed wood frame. Glazed. Double mount; white with dark cream. Overall size 53.5cm W x 63.5cm H.
