Renate Jephcott

Renate Jephcott is a Highland‑based artist working in energetic mixed media, drawing inspiration from rural and coastal landscapes. Her work explores a sense of place as something felt as much as seen, favouring ordinary, everyday scenes over recognisable or iconic views. Grounded in close observation, her practice seeks to capture atmosphere, movement and lived experience.

In 2023 and 2024 she won places on the acclaimed John Busby Seabird Drawing Weeks, which led to an increased focus on cliffs, coastlines and seabird life. She has spent extended periods observing and drawing seabirds and geese directly from life, including a spring residency on the Isle of May.

Renate exhibits and sells work across Scotland and the UK, including at the Society of Wildlife Artists’ Natural Eye Exhibitionat the Mall Galleries, London, and the Royal Scottish Watercolour Society Annual Exhibition at the RSA, Edinburgh.
