The Scottish Highlands are an inspirational place, home to many talented artists and makers that we are delighted to work with. We also source great craftsmanship from elsewhere in the UK and further afield if we like it, and the story behind it, aiming to ensure a fair rate is paid for quality work. Knowing lots of talented people means we may be able to commission bespoke items for you; please contact us to discuss your ideas.
We offer a pack and post service, UK and worldwide.
In addition, we host a variety of art, printmaking and textile exhibitions, and other creative events throughout the year, most with free entry during normal opening hours. You might just find that special piece of Scottish art to enhance wherever you live or work.
Check our ‘what’s on’ page for event updates.
We have now almost completed our building rennovations, creating a series of bright and interesting retail areas over two floors, and workshop space.
The Gallery is a privately run, micro-business with a social conscience and does not receive public funding that requires it to deliver projects outside commercial activity, nor do we make big profits. However, in addition to selling the work of many independent artists, makers, designers, small businesses and selected fair trade suppliers, we also choose to further contribute positively to our local community, where appropriate creative opportunities arise.
Projects we gave our time and energy to when based in Golspie included arranging workshops and hosting visits for young people, as well as funding and installing community artwork. Hopefully these continue to inspire.
We brought life and the history of an empty chemist’ shop back to Dingwall High Street by sympathetically renovating No. 48 into Alchemist Gallery, and during COVID-19 lockdowns created changing window displays, bringing what one customer described as “a glimmer of gorgeousness in the midst of it all” to our wee part of the world.
Suppliers have raised funds for the Highland Hospice, Pancreatic Cancer Action and Dingwall Museum through their Gallery sales during 2020. Support has also been pledged for Dingwall Heritage Trail, which should come to fruition during 2021/22. Like many other small local businesses, we continue to care about our community.
