Piecing it together: sally purdy

'The process of making mosaics: breaking, reusing and reassembling into something whole, is a powerful expression of resilience and strength out of fragility.'

’We are mosaic pieces

Of light, love, history,

stars- glued together

With magic and music

And words’

- Anita Krizzan

Sally is a local visual artist who specialises in mosaics.

'My work often evolves intuitively in response to the different qualities of materials used. The mosaics and collages could be seen as creative jigsaws of colour, light, pattern and texture. I take inspiration from many sources, mostly from the natural world, and whilst wanting to celebrate the richness of nature, I also want to express a spiritual connection with it. A response that draws on a collective unconscious through dreams, mythology and archetype.

The process of making mosaics: breaking, reusing and reassembling into something whole, is a powerful expression of resilience and strength out of fragility. Many of my pieces are created as a tribute to the enduring life force of nature in the face of climate change.'
