Meet artist Han to see her exhibition at Alchemist Gallery and join her for a gentle walk along the Peffery Canal, with the eyes of an illustrator, then learn how to create a zine or card of what you discover.

To some it’s an eye sore, even a rubbish dump. A place abandoned by the past. A Victorian relic of a bygone industrial era that never quite took off. But the canal is still alive. Reclaimed by wildlife, it’s sanctuary to nature. It’s a dog walk, a shortcut, a Saturday morning escape. It’s a way out and a way in. A place of possibility.

Materials will be provided but feel free to bring along any sketch, drawing or illustration items you have and may like to use. Workshop cost includes Caran D’Ache pencils and pastels which you will be able to take home, and light refreshments.

Please note the exhibition is upstairs in the gallery, but viewing can be facilitated if this is an issue, otherwise the event will be at ground level. The canal side path can be rough and muddy in places, please wear appropriate footwear and dress for the weather on the day.  Disabled WC on site. Bus stop and train station nearby. Free parking available in nearby town centre carparks. No refunds.

Han’s illustration exhibition, 'Silting’, is open to the public and runs from 16th July until 1st September at Alchemist Gallery, Dingwall. It’s a heartfelt look at places and people, past and present as she follows the route of the Peffery Canal from the centre of her hometown to the estuary.
