Conon Bridge was once a focal point for Candlemas celebrations, associated with the Celtic festival of Imbolc, marking the arrival of spring and honouring Saint Bridget (also known as Brigid or Bride in Celtic tradition).
A market was held near Conan House, while an early Christian chapel dedicated to the saint stood at the site of the Logiebride burial ground.
Bridget was revered as a guardian of livestock, harvests, and new life. In my interpretation, she is represented through the symbolism of blackbirds’ nests and golden harvests, evoking fertility, renewal, and the promise of new growth.
A truly delightful work to celebrate special family moments.
