Winner of the 2025 Highland Art Prize
"I like to use direct simple brushstrokes and exciting colour palettes to produce 'truthful paintings' which get to the heart or essence of a place and how I respond to it emotionally. I try not to be afraid of failure, to keep paintings simple, to stick with good ideas, and know that it doesn't always have to make sense."
Kathy has exhibited at Alchemist Gallery several times; 'Coast & Water' with Clare Blois in 2020, a collection of bright florals, foreboding mountains and stunning seascapes in 2022, a solo exhibition 'Fragments' in 2023, and in a joint exhibition with Emer Beattie 'Bring on the Blooms' in 2025. She joins us again in 2026 with her solo exhibition 'Surface Tension' with a wonderful mix of florals, still life and landscapes, all featuring her skillfull use of collage and mixed media alongside her oil painting, this runs from the 19th of February until the 7th of April 2026.
