Originally from Sutherland in the Highlands of Scotland, Rachel studied Visual Arts (specialising in animation) at the Edinburgh College of Art.

Since graduating in 1999, she has worked on picture book illustration, animation and film,  exhibited widely in Scotland and taught animation in the UK and Europe.

Short animation film productions have featured at world-wide festivals, with air time on the BBC and Channel Four. Rachel also worked on numerous animation film projects with children, some of which went on to pick up awards including the Engage Scotland Visual Arts Education Award for Improving Mental Health and Well-being/2005.

Following an animation residency at the Highland Print Studio in Inverness in 2007, Rachel's work began to focus much more on printmaking, and in particular working with the processes of dry point etching and mono-printing.
